Built by people who ran a VITA desk.
VITADesk is made by LCO Software Inc., a small company in Southwest Florida that builds software for nonprofits: volunteer hours, donor management, event registration, and now the appointment desk.
Where it came from
For years we ran the scheduling behind a United Way's VITA program: several locations, thousands of appointments a season, Spanish and Creole speakers who needed the right volunteer at the right hour, and a phone that rang every time a text went out wrong. We learned what breaks: pre-generated time slots that drift, reminders at the wrong hour, placeholders that never get filled, landlines that silently swallow every message, and schedules you are afraid to edit because a booking might vanish.
VITADesk is the second system, built from what the first one taught us. It stores rules, not slots. It refuses to send a broken message. It tells you who is affected before you change anything. It treats a client's phone number as a promise your staff can keep.
What we believe
- The client side must work for a 78-year-old on a phone with a cracked screen. Big type, one question at a time, no accounts.
- Volunteers are busy. The desk should need no training.
- A nonprofit should know the price before the season, not after. One number, no surprises.
- Lapsing a subscription should never turn off a client's reminder.
What VITADesk is not
It does not prepare returns, e-file, or store tax records long term. GetYourRefund and TaxSlayer do those well. VITADesk is the layer in front of them: the booking, the reminders, the check-in, the day.
VITADesk is not affiliated with the Internal Revenue Service. VITA is a program of the IRS; VITADesk is scheduling software used by organizations that take part in it.
